MON is seeking a highly talented Environmental Scientist for immediate employment based at the Mulatos mine. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Environmental Science, with specific focus on Permitting and Remediation related to Exploration and Mining activities. 


  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
  • Must have an excellent working knowledge of all State and Federal Environmental regulations related to exploration and mining activities.
  • Minimum five years of experience in environmental consulting specializing in site assessment and site remediation on a variety of mining, mineral exploration, or industrial land use change projects.
  • Must work well with professionals, technicians, sub-contractors, and analytical laboratories as well as with multiple offices.
  • Ability to work with and to manage people with varying degrees.
  • Experience and/or capabilities in conducting and preparing Environmental Impact Reports, Preparing Environmental management programs and preparing documentation required by SEMARNAT and PROFEPA.
  • Experience and/or capabilities to conduct environmental inspections, preparing work plans and field investigation reports.
  • Strong task management, field investigation, analytical and computer skills required.
  • Must be bi-lingual (Spanish and English).
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test

  • Prepare all relevant permits to enable Exploration activities to continue without interruption.
  • Keep both GIS and data (access / excel) databases of all permitting and remediation issues related to the Exploration Departments activities.
  • Prepare annual timeframes for permit applications based around the timetable of exploration work.
  • Propose annual permitting and remediation budgets for the Exploration Department.
  • Prepare environmental best practice policies and procedures for exploration activities with particular focus on legal requirements.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of exploration drill sites and assist with the training and education of both staff and contractors.
  • Prepare reports for management.
  • Conduct field work as required – including but not limited to; collection of soil and groundwater samples, well installation and aquifer testing
  • Prepare analytical data analysis, report preparation, evaluation of alternatives, and data summaries
  • Must be familiar with field investigation techniques, laboratory analyses and waste characterization criteria, human health screening criteria, interpretation of geologic and chemical data for surface water, soil, soil gas and groundwater and be capable to prepare and complete reports summarizing field procedures and results.
  • Must be prepared to spend up to 60% of their time in the field.
  • Must be prepared to work on 20-10 rotation schedule.
